Alangilan Senior High School: A Quick Overview of the offered Academic Track

In 2011, the Department of Education initiated a major shift from a ten-year basic education curriculum to the Kinder to 12 Program (K-12). Senior High School (SHS) is made up of the final two years of the K-12 program, Grades 11 and 12. The two-year Senior High Track is designed to equip you with the competencies and skills you'll need to succeed in any route you choose, whether it's further education, vocational skills, sports, art, or entrepreneurship.

Alangilan Senior High School, located in Alangilan Batangas City, Batangas, provides a high-quality education in a variety of academic tracks for students to choose from. This includes the STEM, HUMSS, and ABM STRAND. These tracks will assist you in preparing for your future college program's field specialty. Alangilan SHS has been molding students to be the productive, prepared, confident and  be more before leaving the school premises and before leaving their high school life. Alangilan SHS will guide you toward your objectives and ensure that you select a program that is most relevant to your passions and interests.

The academic track of Alangilan SHS is divided into the following strands.

1.    SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) STRAND.

Alangilan Senior high school students will engage in learning activities aimed at honing their knowledge and abilities in data analysis, real-world implications, and research. As for me, a STEM strand student,  I can see that there are improvements in my ICT , Analytical,  writing,  and last but not the least researching skills that leads to discoveries of knowledge even in the middle of pandemic.  Though some students  tend to mark STEM  as a mind boggling strand, this is truly essential in getting the best out of yourself by challenging and learning to adapt in solving mind boggling problems in real life or text books.

Some of the important benefits to expect in STEM strand of Alangilan SHS are the following

• Educators encourages students to work together to solve situations,  information, make reports, give meaningful presentations, and more.
• Especially in times of pandemic, the school  educate students the value and potential of technology, particularly in today's digital world. They improve pupiIs ICT skills in the use of productivity tools and their ability to be Media and Information literate individuals.
•  Alangilan promotes honing of skills in adapting to constantly changing situations and challenges as well as learning to be participative individual.

  2.    ACCOUNTANCY BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (ABM) STRAND

In the ABM strand refers to academic programs in accounting, business, and management that focus on the underlying principles in corporate operations, financial management, and business management, as well as everything that revolves around those key domains. In Alangilan SHS,  students are taught how to estimate assets, comprehend all aspects of financial conditions, evaluate varied profitability, and generate audit accounts.

Students in Alangilan SHS is expected to participate in a commercial enterprise exercise if they want to pursue this strand. When it comes to negotiating, dealing with customers, planning, and evaluating business. Based from the experience of my peers in Alangilan SHS who are currently taking the ABM strand, they mentioned that In ABM,

•  You may expand  knowledge on how to manage your own business.
•  You'll have a firm grasp on the type of business you're working to develop and how you're going to operate it.
• ABM is not just about how you will manage your business; it also developed your business presentation skills you, the conflict associated with accounting management, and how to ensure your organization's success.

Alangilan SHS prioritize shaping students to be prepared in being entrepreneurs,  accountant and managers  in the next phases of their life, whether they will already start their business or continue for higher Education in the future.

3.    HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCE (HUMSS) STRAND

HUMSS strand is largely research-based, and students will be required to read, write, and present several papers throughout senior high school. Students enrolled in this strand will be exposed to a variety of eye-opening disciplines, including world religions, Philippine and international literature, politics and community development specializations, and more. Alangilan SHS directs students to be more confident,  diligent and better communicator. Students pursuing this strand will gain a broader understanding of arts, culture, literature, politics, and society before they go to higher education.

 According to my friends in HUMSS Strand, studying HUMSS in  Alangilan SHS is a remarkable experience. They are delighted that they are granted with opportunity to be in the first batch of HUMSS in ASHS. Even though the pandemic hits, they felt the love and support from their instructors, pushing them to their limits in to be at their best performance.  They also mentioned the positive outcomes of being enrolled in HUMSS Strand,  they became  more confident public speakers, communicators and as well as understanding politics more. One of them added that even though some students marked the HUMSS strand as the easiest one, she is sure that we all deal with different problems, but the HUMSS strand in ASHS is not more or less of other strand, in fact, she believes that all students in different  strand is equally complex and facing different problems yet, HUMSS strand workload is not more or less harder but a different approach in shaping the students to be better!
           Moreover Alangilan SHS is offering equal quality of education to their students in different strand. It is evident in that Students who came from here became more competitive but cooperative, pushing their limits further to maximize their potentials that can be use later on their own chosen path.

In my second year (Grade 12) in Alangilan Senior High School,  I can say that there are a lot of things in here to consider if you want to know more about your potential and proficiency. Every strand will require you give your best, and be confident about what you are and what you can do. The support granted by the educators and the management here in Alangilan SHS will push you to be at the peak of your potential in exchange of their effort in modeling you to be a competent student before and after you exit your high school life.  Choose Alangilan Senior High School if you want to:
